Alongside apple and crumble cake, marble cake is a real classic at grandma’s coffee table. One secret ingredient in this recipe makes our marble cake particularly moist. Namely the yoghurt.
Ingredients for Marble Cake:
50 g dark chocolate
250 g soft butter
250 g sugar
250 g flour
2 tsp baking powder
150 g yoghurt
2 tbsp cocoa powder
First you need to prepare the mould. Grease a cake tin with butter and then dust with flour. Preheat the oven to 340°F convection oven.
Chop the dark chocolate and melt it over a bain-marie. The melted chocolate can then be put to one side for the time being.
Put the butter and sugar in a bowl and beat until creamy. Stir in the eggs one at a time. Mix the flour and baking powder. Stir the flour mixture into the butter-egg mixture alternately with 100 g of the yoghurt.
Now pour one half of the batter into the jelly cup mould. Mix the other half of the dough with the melted chocolate, cocoa powder and the remaining yoghurt. Then pour the dark batter into the mould as well.
To get the typical marble pattern, now prick the dough with a fork and turn it in a circle. Then smooth the surface of the dough.
Put the cake in the oven for about 45 minutes.
