Apple Sponge Cake

Stirred together very simply and quickly, the Apple Sponge Cake with the fine apple slices is in the oven in no time and ready to enjoy.

Apple Sponge Cake

Ingredients for Apple Sponge Cake:

4 apples (approx. 1 kg)
2 tbsp lemon juice
200 g flour
1 pck. vanilla custard powder
3 tsp. baking powder
120 g sugar
3 eggs
150 g soft butter
50 ml milk
1 pck. vanilla sugar
½ tsp cinnamon


Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Line a springform pan (Ø 26 cm) with baking paper. Peel and core the apples. Quarter each apple and cut into wedges. Mix with lemon juice in a bowl.

Mix flour with custard powder, baking powder and sugar in a bowl. Add the eggs, butter and milk and beat for 3 minutes on the highest speed with the whisks of the hand mixer until frothy. Pour the batter into the tin and smooth out.

Push the apple slices steeply into the dough all around. Finally, mix the cinnamon with the vanilla sugar and sprinkle over the top. Bake for approx. 35 minutes. Leave to cool. Serve with whipped cream if desired. The cake makes approx. 12 pieces.
